QL Mobile is a software solution that runs on handheld PC’s. It allows staff to access and update information held in the QL Housing system, while they are out in the field carrying out visits or inspections.
This means that accurate, up to date information is available to field-based staff and can also be updated instantly whilst the officer concerned is still in the property—this speeding up processes significantly and eliminating time consuming double-entry.
A Range of Applications
QL Mobile is a solution which can be either real-time (accessing data live on the server), or, in cases where the mobile signal is poor, a synchronisation model can be used (this is where data is downloaded to the device and uploaded to the server when a connection is possible).
Providing repairs inspections, works orders and other housing management functionality, QL Mobile is a product that is unique because it is specifically developed by Aareon for the Housing market—thus allowing us to ensure that the technology fit is relevant for the unique situations that Inspectors and Housing Officers experience—such as blocks of flats or lift shafts where signals may be weak or non-existent. The mobile device is linked to the QL database via server software which efficiently manages the data transfer in both directions, using the latest Microsoft.net technology. Ease of use and effectiveness are the key design concepts. A minimum of typing is required, and comprehensive search facilities exist on the mobile software.
